The Competitor Performance Tab within the SiteCurves module provides users with a comprehensive view of how competing websites rank and perform against the keywords for a selected domain in a landscape. This guide will walk you through the features and functionality of this tab.


Overview of the Competitors Websites

  1. Competing Websites Trend Chart

    • The top chart shows daily trends for improving and declining competitors.

    • Green bars represent domains that improved their rankings or traffic from the day before, while red bars represent domains that declined.

    • Click on any bar to filter the results below to show only improving or declining competitors for that day. Clicking the bar again resets the filter.

  2. Competitor View Options

    • Card View (Default): Displays a visual representation of each competitor’s traffic trend over time.

    • Grid View: Provides a tabular layout with detailed metrics for each competitor.


Key Features of Competitors Websites

  1. Competitor Cards (Card View)

    • Each card includes:

      • Domain Name

      • Domain Authority (DA): A measure of the domain's overall authority.

      • Estimated Traffic: The total traffic for that competitor from the tracked keywords.

      • Traffic Trend Chart: A visualized timeline of traffic performance.

      • Performance Indicator: Shows if the domain is trending up or down in performance.

    • Use the “+” button to quickly add a domain to your portfolio.

  2. Competitor Table (Grid View)

    • Metrics available:

      • Domain Authority (DA)

      • Keywords Ranked: The number of keywords for which the competitor ranks in the top 20.

      • URLs Ranked: The number of URLs found for this competitor in the landscape.

      • Estimated Traffic: The domain's estimated traffic for the keywords in the landscape.

      • Traffic Change: The change in estimated traffic over the selected time period.

      • Curve Score, Google Score, Volatility Score: Domain-level performance indicators.

  3. Filters and Sorting

    • Use the dropdown menus and filters to refine results by:

      • Niches: Limit competitors to specific industries or topics.

      • Website Types: Filter for competitors by type, e.g., eCommerce, blogs, etc.

      • Business Models: Narrow down competitors by operational model, e.g., affiliates or direct sellers.

    • Sort columns in the table to analyze competitors based on specific metrics.


How to Interact with Competitor Data

  1. Adding Competitors to Portfolios

    • Click the “+” button on a competitor card or in the table to save the domain to a portfolio for easier tracking.

  2. View Trends by Filters

    • Switch between daily, weekly, or monthly data views using the dropdown in the header. Note: For newly built landscapes, weekly or monthly data might not be available initially.

  3. Refining Results

    • Use the All Competitors, Improving Competitors, or Declining Competitors tabs to focus on domains based on their performance trends.

  4. Export Data

    • Click the Export button to download a CSV file of the competitor data, tailored to the filters you have applied.


Best Practices for Analyzing Competitors

  • Identify Trends: Use the traffic trend charts to spot consistent improvements or declines in competitor performance.

  • Segment Analysis: Leverage the filters to see how competitors perform across specific niches, business models, or website types.

  • Track Key Domains: Add key competitors to portfolios for continued analysis across different landscapes.
