The Post Moderation screen in the Admin Settings allows landscape administrators to manage posts and comments effectively, ensuring high-quality and relevant content in their discussions. This feature is especially useful for public landscapes where moderation ensures alignment with the community's goals and standards.

What is Post Moderation?

Post Moderation helps admins oversee and control:

  • Posts held for approval: When post moderation is turned on in a public landscape, all posts by members are held for approval by admins before they are published.

  • Reported content: Both posts and comments that users report as inappropriate or irrelevant are flagged for review.

  • Approval or Deletion: Admins can decide to approve or delete content directly from this screen.

How Post Moderation Works in SiteCurve

  • Tabs for Easy Navigation:

    • Everything: Displays all posts and comments, including those flagged or held for moderation.

    • Held for Moderation: Shows posts that require admin approval before they are published. Comments do not require pre-approval.

    • Flagged by Users: Displays posts and comments reported by members.

  • Moderating Posts and Comments:

    • Held for Moderation:

      • Posts submitted by members in landscapes with moderation turned on appear here first.

      • Admins can review the post and choose:

        • Keep Post: Approves the post, making it visible in the landscape.

        • Delete Post: Removes the post entirely from the landscape.

    • Flagged by Users:

      • Both posts and comments reported by users appear in this section.

      • Admins can review the content and decide:

        • Keep Post/Comment: Dismisses the report and keeps the content live.

        • Delete Post/Comment: Removes the reported content from the landscape.

  • Default Behavior:

    • Posts Held for Moderation:

      • These posts remain hidden until approved by an admin.

    • Reported Posts and Comments:

      • Content flagged by users stays visible in discussions while under review, ensuring ongoing conversations are not disrupted.

      • Admin decisions (keep/delete) update the content's status.

  • Admin Tools:

    • Use filters to streamline the moderation process:

      • Tabs: Quickly switch between all posts, those needing moderation, and flagged content.

      • Content Previews: See the post or comment directly within the moderation screen for quick decision-making.

Turning Moderation On or Off

Post moderation is only available for public landscapes:

  • To enable or disable post moderation:

    1. Go to the General tab in Admin Settings.

    2. Toggle Post Moderation on or off.

    • On: All posts require admin approval before publishing.

    • Off: All posts are published immediately without admin review.

Important Notes for Admins

  • Moderation Scope:

    • Only posts are held for moderation; comments are auto-approved when published.

  • Reported Content:

    • Posts and comments reported by users remain visible until an admin takes action.

  • Centralized Management:

    • The Post Moderation screen consolidates all content needing review, making it easier to manage landscape activity from one place.

  • Impact of Deletion:

    • Deleting a post or comment removes it permanently from the landscape.

    • Users who posted or commented are not notified of the deletion but will notice its absence.

  • Proactive Filters:

    • Use the tabs and filters to prioritize critical actions, such as addressing flagged content quickly or managing pending posts.
