Discussions in SiteCurve are a central feature enabling users to engage in conversations, share insights, and collaborate on SEO strategies across public, private, and paid landscapes. Here’s how discussions work and how you can get the most out of them.

What Are Discussions?

Discussions allow users to post and comment on specific domains, categories, locations, and indexes across SiteCurve’s landscapes. Posts can include text, images, GIFs, emojis, and attachments, fostering rich interactions and collaboration. They provide a space to:

  • Share observations or strategies about domain performance.

  • Start conversations on emerging trends or shifts in rankings.

  • Tag users for direct engagement and notifications.

  • Contribute to a landscape’s collective knowledge base.

Discussions are visible to all SiteCurve users when posted in public landscapes. However, for private or paid landscapes, only landscape members can view posts.

Clarifications on Discussion Terminology

  • Posts: The original content users create on SiteCurve profiles, category curves, index curves, or location curves.

  • Comments: User responses to a post.

  • Replies: Responses to a comment made on a post.

How Discussions Work

Posting in SiteCurve

  1. Navigate to the Domain or Curve:

    • For domains, go to the SiteCurve module, select the domain (e.g., Mastercard.com), and switch to the Discussions tab.

    • For category, location, or index curves, go to the respective curve and switch to the Discussions tab.

  2. Create a Post:

    • Add your content, including text, images, attachments, and GIFs.

    • Tag users to notify them directly about the post.

    • Optionally, add tags to categorize the post for future functionality.

  3. Publish:

    • Posts in landscapes with moderation enabled are held for admin review.

    • Posts in landscapes without moderation are published immediately.

Visibility

  • Public Landscapes:

    • Posts are visible across SiteCurve in the All SiteCurve feed, profiles, and landscape discussions.

    • Anyone on SiteCurve can view, upvote, or comment on these posts.

  • Private/Paid Landscapes:

    • Posts are visible only to members of the landscape.

    • They do not appear in the All SiteCurve feed or on user profiles unless the viewer has access.

Interactions

  • Users can comment on posts in a threaded format.

  • Emojis, GIFs, and attachments are supported in comments.

  • Upvotes help surface valuable insights, especially in Top Post This Month filters.

  • Weekly emails include discussion highlights for the landscapes a user is a member of. Clicking a post in the email redirects to the post’s full content in the originating landscape.

Filters and Sorting

The feed and landscape discussion areas provide robust filters:

  • Most Recent: Shows the latest posts published across SiteCurve.

  • Latest Activity: Highlights posts with the most recent comments.

  • Top Post This Month: Displays posts with the highest upvotes within the last 30 days.

Discussion Permissions by Role

Authors:

  • Create, edit, and delete their own posts.

  • Tag users and respond to comments on their posts.

Readers:

  • View posts and comments based on visibility settings.

  • Upvote and comment on posts.

  • Report posts or comments to landscape admins.

Landscape Admins:

  • Moderate posts and comments through the Landscape Settings -> Posts tab.

    • Decide to keep or delete posts and comments reported by users.

  • If moderation is enabled for public landscapes:

    • Review and approve/reject posts before publishing.

  • If moderation is disabled for public landscapes:

    • Posts are published immediately but can still be reported and reviewed.

  • Turn moderation on or off in the landscape settings

    • Private and paid landscapes do not have moderation

Moderation in Discussions

SiteCurve provides robust moderation tools to maintain quality and relevance:

  • Moderation Settings:

    • Enable or disable moderation for all posts in the landscape.

  • Report Functionality:

    • Users can report posts or comments for admin review.

    • Reported items appear in the Posts tab of the landscape settings for review.

  • Admin Actions:

    • Approve (Keep) or delete flagged posts/comments.

    • View reasons for flagged items for context.

Integrations Across SiteCurve

Feeds:

  • Posts from public landscapes flow into the All SiteCurve feed.

  • Posts from landscapes a user has joined appear in the Joined Landscapes feed.

User Profiles:

  • A user’s posts appear in their profile if they originate from public landscapes.

  • Private landscape posts are visible only to landscape members.

Weekly Emails:

  • Posts from the past 7 days are included in the landscape weekly email.

  • Clicking on a post opens a dedicated page with the full content and comment thread.

Best Practices for Using Discussions

  1. Be Specific: Share detailed insights about a domain, strategy, or performance trend to spark meaningful conversations.

  2. Tag Relevant Users: Engage specific members for their expertise or input.

  3. Use Upvotes: Help surface valuable posts by upvoting them.

  4. Leverage Filters: Use filters to discover high-value posts or active discussions.

  5. Collaborate: Reply to comments, add to the discussion, and build on shared knowledge.

  6. Moderate Thoughtfully: For admins, ensure discussions remain relevant and valuable by moderating reported posts/comments.
