An index in SiteCurve allows you to group custom keywords and websites within a landscape into a single view. While landscapes provide a comprehensive overview of all the keywords and URLs you’re tracking, indexes let you zoom in on specific groups of data that are most relevant to your goals.

Step 1: Start the Index Creation Flow

From your dashboard or landscape view, select “Create Index.” SiteCurve will guide you through a setup flow to define your index.

Step 2: Name the Index

Start with naming your index something that makes sense to you. You can always change this later in your account settings.

Step 3: Select Keywords

Next you need to select the keywords you want to power the index. Indexes are built off of the keywords you originally added to your landscape.

You can select all of the keywords or some sub-set of them. You can and should use the filters to find the keywords you want to include. The filters available to use are:

  • Keyword

  • Device

  • Language

  • Location

  • MSV

  • CPC

SiteCurve will extract all of the domains ranking on those keywords.

Step 4: Select Domains

Next you need to select the domains you want to track within an index. The domains in this view are extracted from the keywords you selected from the previous step.

You can skip this step and select all domains or you can select a sub-set of them using the filters. The filters available to use are:

  • Domain

  • Domain Authority

  • Keywords

  • URLs

  • Share of Voice (SoV)

  • Volatility Score (VS)

  • Google Score (GS)

  • Curve Score (CS)

You can also export the domains from this view to analyze in your spreadsheet software of choice.

Step 5: Index Summary

This is your summary report of the index you’re about to create. In this step you have three options, preview, edit, and launch.

  • Editing

    • If you want to edit any of your selections, click “edit” and you’ll be brought back to that screen. Please note, if you edit the “keywords” it will reset the domains to be tracked in this index.

  • Preview

    • You can also preview what you selected to review the list of keywords and domains before launching the index

  • Launch Index

    • This will trigger SiteCurve to create the index and add it to your landscape

    • SiteCurve will gather and process the data for your custom index. Depending on the number of keywords and websites included, this may take a few moments. You’ll receive a notification when your index is ready to explore.

What Happens Next?

Your index will appear as a new view within your landscape for all members of the landscape to see. From here, you can:

  • Analyze keyword rankings, trends, and performance for the selections

  • Follow your index and add it to a portfolio

  • Create alerts related to activity within the index

  • Save and revisit filtered segments within your index
